This was the fantastic swimming hole we got to cool off in on our Gorge tour.

40th Birthday - Stage 2! Katherine Gorge

We take a trip up Katherine Gorge on a boat cruise. It is a four hour tour and the day was clear and beautiful - if only it wasn't the 40 degrees. Never fear - as there is a swimming hole on this tour and it was just what we needed. We saw 3 gorges (there are 13 in total in Katherine Gorge) and between each gorge there was a short walk to the next boat ride.

My 40th Birthday - stage 1!!!

We go to the Chinese Resturant in Katherine called the Shanghi. Great meals and had a wonderful time with my family.
Also the Barra drought has been broken with Tim catching his FIRST Barra in the River here at Spring Lily Vale Campsite. Very yummy - so fresh!

We visit Nitmulik National Park (Katherine Gorge Park). This part of the park is Edith Falls and Middle Pool. The hugest water hole I've ever seen. It is 150m to swim over to the waterfall!! Tim and the kids did it! Still plenty of tourists here even though the season is slowing down and 4WD tracks are being closed.
This park is about 50ks from Katherine, and around 270ks south of Darwin.

Gregory National Park NT

As we travel towards Katherine we stop along the way to do a walk in the Gregory National Park. On this walk we saw some Aboriginal artwork on the rocks....enjoying the beautiful palms on the hillside.

Today we visited the Katherine Hot Springs with some people we met this morning at the Katherine Baptist Church. It was supposed to be 32 degrees in the water but it felt much cooler than that. The water is usually clear, unless some kids muck about stiring up the dirt from the bottom, or chuck mud in from the banks. Its a pretty place around the springs and we stayed in till we turned to prunes!
